Child Passenger Safety Week

Get your child’s safety seat checked by an expert.

Child Passenger Safety Week is September 19-25.

Child Passenger Safety Week will give parents a chance to make sure their child car safety seat is properly installed. To have your seat checked just  stop by a local safety seat inspection station on Saturday, September 25.

According to the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), despite the ease of use of current child car safety seats, three out of four parents do not use them properly.

Don’t miss child safety seat tips online.

Child Passenger Safety Week also aims to prevent child car injuries by providing online resources about proper child safety seat installation.

Here are some great child safety seat websites to visit this week:

  • HealthyChildren.org, a website run by the American Academy of Pediatrics, has a fantastic article that shows the types of car seats available, installation tips and a series of FAQs.
  • The NHTSA also provides helpful information regarding child car seat selection, proper use, installation and other related safety tips.
  • If you can’t make it to an inspection station next week, check out SeatCheck.org for additional tips and tools regarding child car seat safety.  This information is great for first-time parents preparing for a new arrival and is a good refresher for us seasoned veterans.

Take part in preventing child injury by participating in Child Passenger Safety Week and be sure you’re using your child car safety seat properly outside your vehicle.

Most local fire departments offer free seat inspections. I am in the habit of visiting with each “transition.”

Thanks for the comment, Bill. This is great information. Keep up the responsible parenting.
