After reporting the nap nanny recall, we became aware of an online petition calling for more research into baby crib bumpers.
The petition was started by MISSION (Mothers Investigating Safe Sleep Options for Newborns). The organization’s president, Catherine Hall, is also the owner of Go Mama Go Designs, maker of the Wonder Bumper. According to MISSION, traditional, unsafe baby bumpers are still being mass marketed in the United States.
Here is the text from the petition:
We the undersigned, alongside MISSION, Mothers Investigating Safe Sleep Options for Newborns, are urgently requesting parents, physicians, medical professionals, and our local government, all who have a vital interest in the well-being of America’s children, to call to action an investigation of traditional crib bumpers. Without your help, countless parents will unknowingly put their child at risk.
By signing this petition, you will help heighten awareness, increase interest in safe sleeping environments for babies, and most importantly express that traditional bumpers are dangerous, should not be used in a child’s crib and that the Consumer Product Safety Commission should take action to investigate the deaths caused by this product.
MISSION is doing great work and fighting for a noble cause, so please sign the petition today.
